I have disability insurance, but it was really hard to get, and my girlfriend seriously needs it. She has fibromyalgia, and her husband abandoned her just a few months before he would have to pay alimony in a divorce. So she doesn’t have any insurance or medications, and she’s sick… People are griping at her about everything, but she’s not getting any help from the SSI office, of course. I’m not even sure how I managed to finally get it, I do know that my friend and case worker had to fill out the paperwork and I was very paranoid about what they were saying. I just wish that my girlfriend could go to a doctor and get meds so that she didn’t feel so miserable all the time…

I really miss Online Schooling instead of going to campus classes, because jeez, I don’t like getting up at 6am, and I’m cranky or half asleep during all of my campus classes. When I went to online classes, I could work on my own schedule, which is great, considering I homeschool my son. The school was letting him do his work in the student center but now they’re forcing him to go to my classes with me, so we have no time away from each other, and I have to keep asking him to be quiet and not ask me for things in the class, since he’s not actually enrolled and doing what is taught there instead of his math or biology, etc. It’s just that I don’t understand how to do art classes online, you know? And I’m kind of in a situation where I’m stuck going to campus, at least for this semester… But I seriously miss doing my college online, it was a very pleasant experience. T_T

Does anyone actually send thank you cards anymore or has it died off? It would be really sad if it became a relic, especially considering how rude this world is these days. Several times a day I hear people threatening and cursing from cars, and you hardly ever hear any kind words. Even when given a gift, it seems rare these days for anyone to spend more than half a second acknowledging it, since we live in a society that encourages greed and an attitude of being owed everything or having a right to things that are actually luxuries, not rights.
I don’t know, it makes me sad. I’m not the best example, since I still need to have my son write a thank you note for the uniform his Sifu gave him for his birthday, two months early at that since he was outgrowing the other one that my friend Akasha gave him for his birthday a few years ago.

I wish we had concert tickets for just about anything that included a mosh pit that Gryphon could go to. Maybe we’ll go to Rockettown again so that he can learn to skateboard, but I need a release from stressing out. I used to go to several concerts a month but that has died off due to other things in my life… Gryphon has never been to a large concert like Ozzfest or anything, so he definitely needs to find out what that’s like.
Lol, speaking of concerts, I wonder why they were giving out Garth Brooks t-shirts at Mental Health Cooperative for free with the price tags still attached. That was sort of odd, but, errr, I guess thank you, Garth? It so doesn’t fit with my other shirts like Otep, Cradle of Filth, Joey Ramone, Tokio Hotel, etc, but I do like country. It’s just a secret… That I just posted on the internet where anyone can see. XD

The scales of justice, the fish scales used by shamans in World of Warcraft, the digital scales used for auction sites like eBay… Grr, this frog assignment in Graphic Design is driving me insane. I’ve hit a wall on finding 100 ways to interpret frogs, and I only have 56. Now I’m starting to see patterns in every annoying thing and wishing I could somehow use it in this assignment. I’m telling you, it’s making me bonkers, and at first when I started the assignment, I swear I could have made 200 frog illustrations that were unique interpretations, but I was WRONG. Someone help me with ideas. T_T
Okay, I need a car, because it’s terribly inconvenient for everyone that I have to borrow a car each day for class. My car works, but the AC doesn’t, and dad seems to think the car might randomly stop working. It isn’t actually worth enough to repair, but I guess buying a new car would at least be cheaper than rv repairs… Then again, if I had an RV, I’d so be out traveling the country, going from anime convention to anime convention, and paying for gas, food, and hotel by doing fanart and painting bags, shirts, and other random crap for people. Ah, the dream, man, the dream. XD
The way this summer is going, between the muggy weather, the insatiable heat, and having to lug an obscene amount of art supplies from class to class, it seems like the mountains will melt before ever getting to break out any snow boots. I would love for there to be some cool weather some time soon, it’s just exhausting to work in the studio for hours and hours, trying not to drop sweat onro my papers.
I also always wonder if people think it’s weird that I sweat so much but my medicine makes heat detestable to an insane degree. D=

I used to have to drive 25 miles to the nearest university to take classes, rain, snow, it didn’t matter. If they didn’t have what I needed, I was simply out of luck. Now we have the internet that brings the classroom right into my home. How much easier my life has become! I used to spend hours in the car when I could have been studying, cooking, cleaning the house, any number of things besides driving.
As a teacher for over 20 years, I had to take university courses every year to satisfy certification standards. Other teachers would car pool to classes, but we didn’t always have the same schedule so sometimes I had to drive myself. Now, all I have to do is turn on the computer, and using my clear tv bundle deals. off to class I go!
I have decided on a career change now that I have retired from teaching. Guess how I’m learning a new skill. I am taking classes on the computer, of course. After doing extensive online research about what field to enter, I decided on something in the medical profession. I was simply amazed at all the course offerings on the internet. Classes include lectures, communication with professors and other students; it is almost like being right there in the classroom. I am saving so much time and learning a completely new skill. None of this would have been possible without the internet!

What with the terrible weather here, it would be nice to get away. My son and I recently ‘vacationed’ at a local anime convention, but it was during the historical flooding in Nashville that destroyed so much, this May. We were trapped at the hotel, but there were wonderful celebrities that helped us through it and kept us entertained, such as the voice actor of Ikari Shinji and the voice actor of Elward Alphonse.
Still, things have been so stressful, and doing a local convention has nothing in it like a road trip… Going farther away gives you this sense of freedom and helps you look at things differently, partially because what you’re seeing is different.
Carolina Designs has beautifully designed houses that give you all the comforts of home in an elegant and appealing manner, while still traveling outside of your comfort zone. I’ve been terribly uninspired lately, which isn’t a good thing when teaching and attending art school, so it would be rejuvenating to spend a week away with the help of Outer Banks vacation rentals and the houses done so well by Carolina Designs. Right now, it’s just my dream to begin traveling again so that I can share that experience with my son, but I know my muse will return and we will reach those goals.
If you’re interested in seeing what I’m talking about, here are some lovely photos:

No, not that! You should be ashamed of yourself for even thinking that! But, really, it’s so much easier to find anything now online than it used to be, where you’d have to drive to a store or spend a long time on the phone in order to get information or shop. From insurance quotes to vehicles, you can find it online. I was able to get most of my son’s birthday presents online – well, all of them, except the vacation part. Even that, I got the hotel and the tickets and such online, so I don’t go out to stores much anymore. I did go to goodwill because they have the 99cent days, and I’m looking for excersize equipment, but as far as looking up the value of things, I do it online before shopping even if I’m going out to a place to get it. That way I know what’s a good deal and what isn’t, because there’s a huge amount of variety and selection now.
