#142 – Electronic Cigarettes
Well, my camera is made of blurry fail at the moment, but there is a video that goes with this review.
First off, I would like to say the concept and the design of electronic cigarettes is sheer brilliance. They’re sleek, they’re rechargable, in the long end not only are they less poisonous but they cost less than the toxic ones, you can use them indoors, you don’t have to worry about fire – which is a big concern for me, as I’m terrified of fire. Not only that, you don’t have to go out in the awful cold weather to smoke. That in itself is epic.
So, concept and design aside, I’d like to talk about execution. The instructions are pretty simple. Other than the part of accidental ingestion of the liquid that is transformed to fog, I found nothing frightening in the instructions, and nothing that was too hard to handle. I wasn’t happy at the thought of not being able to do this idiotic thing I do, which is to tilt my head back to blow smoke in the air, but I could deal. However, the first attempts at using the device resulted in a sore throat and a lot of coughing. It was so incredibly harsh. My friend, who tried it with me, likened it to dirty bong water. Also, it’s hard to tell, other than the burning sensation, if it’s working… there’s this ghastly hiss and a small delay for the smoke. Still, I’ll be using it again once it’s broken in with a bulb because the benefits outweigh the slight problems I had.
