So I need new lights, but I do have new work gloves at least, although this doesn’t necessarily mean what you think it means. ~_^

Yes, artists use gloves. We do. I use one specific kind to keep from smudging in pencil, and to keep from getting the natural oils on my hands on my digital tablet, others to keep acids from getting into paper, and actual work gloves when working with metal, glass and wood. So artists actually use many more gloves than you would think.
