Just teasing them, but I did finally teach the ones I was talking about to get an online insurance quote. Hard to believe there are people who don’t know that basically, EVERYTHING can be found out through the internet. I find the most obscure information, great articles on physics and privacy… So at least they finally have some idea that yes, it is useful. Yay! It makes me really happy when I teach people how to use computer stuff and they understand… which is why I used to tutor it in college.

Sometimes I think it’s really annoying living with people who aren’t tech literate and can only use their e-mail if you make sure that you don’t change their homepage away from that… in which case you get yelled at that the internet is broken because they don’t recognize the page. My dad got a ticket and we’re not with a great insurance company, so mom is wanting to change our automobile coverage, but complaining about how long it will take, when I’ve told them you can go get comparisons of insurance online. It really isn’t hard or anything… I don’t know ANYONE any more that would call individual companies and try to figure out the exact same coverage when they can click it off online and have a direct view or print out of what is offered, and the rates, as well as any perks.
