Don't think that would work on anyone these days, since they'd see it as a pickup line, but it might work if you're in a sappy relationship already.
Though the above one is too old fashioned to work now, here's a good one for if you accidentally turn someone off by mentioning an ex, because it makes you seem sensitive:
I would rather have had one breath of her hair, one kiss from her mouth, one touch of her hand, than eternity without it. (Even though it's ended.)
